Best Beard

So I was talking to Mike Hinckley the other day and he comes up to me and says “can you grow a beard Bally,” I said yes I can and yes I have before, he then goes on to tell me that he had the “Sickest” beard of all time this offseason. I have been known to grow a pretty sweet beard myself, so you guys be the judge.

I think it ultimately comes down to how long it took each of you. its a pretty even match by looking at those 2 pictures.

The true test of who’s got the better beard is always post-meal pictures. The one with the most gravy, bits of corn, and cranberry sauce wins. Oh, that and whoever’s mustache retains the most liquid from your drink of choice.
Given the lack of eating/beard photos…I’d have to say they’re both pretty sick. But I give Mike the edge, only because he appears to have combed it out to give it a “fuller” look. Manscaping cannot be overlooked.

Christ, did I seriously just spend 5 minutes staring at two pictures of dudes and their beards? Yes. Yes I did.

Your beard is the best!

Bally,
Hinckley’s beard will keep the auto-seekers away, great disguise. Give him a top hat and he looks a little like Abe Lincoln. You guys are not in the same ballpark as D. Young, now that’s a beard.

We made it back to Maine, just in time for a day off of school, with 15 inches of snow added to the 12 inches last week.

Mike from Maine, home of Moxie and Lobsters.

OK, we have to get you higher on the Latest Leaders! How do we want to tell everyone in the world you are blogging…

Man you need a hat with your URL on it :)

wow, those are two really sick beards. Hmmm….I will have to give you the edge, although I love Mike I think yours looks fuller on the bottom. But natsfanme is right, give Mike a top hat and he could be Abe’s twin (hey, maybe Mike should take a stint as a racing president…).

I really can’t decide. They both look pretty sweet but I guess I won’t be able to make a decision until I know how long it took to grow them. Wow. I love your blog.

Bally,
I didn’t win the Oscar’s contest, I am getting better, one right. Hopefully I’ll have better luck with the next contest.

Mike from Maine.

Hinckley has a sort of Jason Lee thing going for him while it looks like you are trying out for the Passion of the Christ Electric Boogaloo: The Musical. The real test should have been if you guys actually kept the beards and see how long into the regular season you, the team, and the fans can tolerate it. Both are remarkable specimens.
Got your 2009 Topps card, Bally. On the back they play six degrees of Mickey Mantle with you.

Way to pitch today , Bally… Keep it up, we need the Bally Star on the mound this year and years to come…

Great pitching today!!!
Two scoreless…

Way to sling it collin!!

Both beards are impressive.

Good work yesterday, BTW!

Wow, I was taken aback by Mike’s new look. A agree with natsfanme, buy a nice little top hat for Mike and it would create a good laugh around the clubhouse.

I have no idea who’s beard I like more though. I guess yours because Mike’s hair is just too clean cut for a beard. And Bally, remember my offer still stands. Any time you want to play around with that big glove, let me know (I won’t tell Manny).

Bally, the beards were tough to judge from different angles, but you win by a hair. You’ve definitely got the surfer-lumberjack look down pat! Both beards are most impressive, so kudos to both you and Mike. I hope you give some serious thought to growing that puppy during the regular season…rally caps and Bally beards! The wife and I will be in Florida this coming Saturday…we can’t wait to see some spring baseball and hope you’re pitching Sunday, Monday or Tuesday in NatsTown! (I’d also be happy to pick up that 1/4 of a signed cap from the Oscars contest :P )Cheers,Rob

Would you post something new, I’m tired of seeing your ugly mug. The beard would be great if you were a hockey player in the playoffs. Ha Ha. Where are all the pics you took form Benji’s wedding? Look to forward to seeing you in May when you guys play the Diamondbacks! Hopefully you get a start one of those nights and beat up on Arizona. I can’t stand the Diamondbacks! GO ANGELS!! Have a good spring and stay healthy.

Peace,
J. Whitcomb

Hey Bally,

What I think about beards isn’t AS important as to what your fiance thinks about them. On most guys, personally, I like the clean shaven look.

Whatever you do, please don’t don one of those fuzz underneath the lip! Gad, I can’t stand those things on ANYBODY. Here is a good looking guy, clean shaven except for that little tuft under the lip. Dumb Dumb Dumb!

Theres nothing wrong with a tickler.

I think I’m gonna be sending out a search party for Mr. Balester. Word has it that he was last spotted in Florida, so the search party will start there.

He might have a few more things that is taking up his time. Right? Make the rotation then send out the Blogs!!!

absolutely. I know its more important, and im not complaining. just making a haha…not a hehe. anyway, best of luck to Bally, I’m confident that he will make the rotation. I will always pull for any So Cal guy in any situation.

Spotted: One Collin Balester just outside the dugout during today’s 8-3 drubbing of the Mets (sure, half their team is playing in the WBC, but the victory was still sweet):What a perfect day for baseball. Even managed to get autographs from Nieves, Kearns, Casto, Johnson, Listach & Acta after the game. Manny’s definitely feeling good about the season…he’s happy to have a little more power and everybody (relatively) healthy.
